analytica 2022: Successful in Munich

Process control with iLIMS

After the many virtual trade fairs of recent years, the world's leading trade fair for laboratory technology, analysis and biotechnology was once again held in presence in Munich. With around 26,000 visitors and almost 900 exhibitors, analytica 2022 inspired the laboratory sector.

This year's top topic was digital transformation in the laboratory, which could be marveled at and tried out in the laboratory of the future. Use cases for networking and digitalization in the lab were presented on various honeycomb islands.

At the FlowLab technology honeycomb, together with our partners SmartLab Solutions, TU Dresden, 2mag, essentim and Better Basics Laborbedarf, we presented the automated and quality-assured consolidation and processing of all data in the LIMS from sample receipt to the finished invoice. iLIMS also took on the central task of controlling and monitoring all laboratory devices and sensors via LADS (Laboratory and Analytical Device Standard).

The highlight for users was the barcode-supported test run, which allowed tracking of samples, instantaneous printing of barcode labels at sample receipt, and feedback of materials and test equipment. The eye-catcher was the visual user guidance. In addition to the display of the associated SOP on the tablet for the respective experimental step, the lab technician was guided through the process via smart device illumination. Laboratory devices used in the experimental step visualized their waiting status via a flashing light and changed to a static glow during processing. With confirmation of each experimental step on the tablet, all relevant data was stored in the LIMS and downstream processes were triggered. After the experiment was performed, a digitally signed test report and invoice were generated.

The demonstrated workflow generated enthusiasm and stimulated intensive discussions among the users.
We would like to thank the organizers and all visitors.
