Barcodes in the laboratory

Similar to logistics, the tracking of samples in the laboratory environment has been realized for several years via barcodes or RFID. The basic prerequisite for this is of course a laboratory software that enables such sample monitoring. With the conversion or new introduction of a LIMS in the laboratory, the question often arises as to which technologies are supported by the laboratory software and which technology and hardware are suitable for the respective use in the laboratory. In iLIMS it is possible to output all information contained in the database as barcode via the report designer. Thus sample labels with the sample ID in the sample receipt, routing slips with laboratory order numbers or invoices with the invoice ID can be provided with barcode. iLIMS supports all common 1D and 2D barcodes such as EAN 13, Code 39, Code 128, DataMatrix, QR-Code and others.

Concerning the hardware for printing and scanning barcodes we were looking for a strong partner with appropriate know-how in the laboratory environment. With Zebra Technologies we have found a partner who convinces on the one hand by its high demands on quality and handling of its products and on the other hand by a very extensive product range, starting with label printers, barcode scanners and consumables. As a manufacturer of laboratory software we are looking forward to a constructive cooperation with Zebra Technologies and the possibility to offer our customers an additional service.

All devices of Zebra Technologies can be purchased from us. For the introduction in your laboratory and the interaction with the LIMS we would be pleased to advise you.
