Barcodes in the Laboratory

Similar to logistics, the tracking of samples in the laboratory environment has been realized for several years via barcodes or RFID. A laboratory software that enables such sample monitoring is, of course, a prerequisite. When switching to or introducing a LIMS in the laboratory, the question often arises as to which technologies are supported by the laboratory software and which technology and hardware are suitable for the respective use in the laboratory. In iLIMS, it is possible to output all information contained in the database as a barcode via the report designer. This allows sample labels with the sample ID at sample intake, run sheets with laboratory order numbers, or invoices with the invoice ID to be provided with barcodes. iLIMS supports all common 1D and 2D barcodes such as EAN 13, Code 39, Code 128, DataMatrix, QR-Code, and others.

Regarding the hardware for printing and scanning barcodes, we were looking for a strong partner with the corresponding know-how in the laboratory environment. With Zebra Technologies, we have found a partner that impresses both with its high demands on the quality and handling of its products and with a very extensive product range, starting from label printers to barcode scanners and consumables. As a manufacturer of laboratory software, we look forward to a constructive collaboration with Zebra Technologies and the opportunity to offer our customers an additional service.

All devices from Zebra Technologies can be obtained through us. We are happy to advise you on the introduction in your laboratory and the interaction with the LIMS.
