As a provider of a flexible laboratory solution (LIMS), we are very interested in supporting young, dedicated, and creative minds in their pursuit of practical research. We are therefore pleased to once again support the competition for the best bioreactor on July 4th and 5th, 2019, at the Chair of Bioprocess Engineering at the Technical University of Dresden.
The challenge was to build a functional bioreactor with only 99 euros. To get the most out of the slim budget, the young researchers became very inventive. For example, old PET bottles or pickle jars were repurposed as bioreactors. The team around âVibrio natrigens and the Boysâ (TU Kaiserslautern) ultimately managed to win first place for the highest biomass productivity. The second place was secured by the team âIm Osten geht die Sonne aufâ (HS Zittau/Görlitz), which was awarded for the highest yield. The third place went to the team âUni Stuttgart,â which was honored by the sponsors for the most innovative concept.
We congratulate all participants and look forward to the challenge next year.
