Due to the Corona pandemic, the LIMS Forum this year was transferred to a virtual format. Visitors had the opportunity to inform themselves about product innovations at our digital trade fair booth and to schedule live appointments for user consultations. In a realistically designed conference room, participants were offered a comprehensive repertoire of expert and user presentations.
A highlight of this year's LIMS Forum was the user presentation by Dr. Stefan Schimpf from Wartig Nord GmbH. He reported in a practical and honest manner about the great potential and the technical and organizational challenges that come with a LIMS implementation. The conclusion after one year of real operation is more than positive. Laboratory automation created new capacities, enabling a higher sample throughput. Due to the simple sample order placement and measurement data collection, fewer errors occur. Moreover, even the initially more skeptical employees report a significant relief in daily laboratory work. As a LIMS provider, we are of course pleased to hear this.
Our personal conclusion about the LIMS Forum in 2020 is nevertheless mixed. Certainly, in these difficult times, an online event is a good alternative. However, personal contact and individual application consulting cannot be completely replaced. Therefore, we look forward to the coming year and hope for an in-person event with personal conversations.
