On November 14, the Smartlab Innovation Network met for the 10th Networking Meeting in Duisburg. The consortium of user laboratories, medium-sized companies, and research institutions aims to develop and standardize innovative laboratory technologies under the term "Labor 4.0". Automation and digitization of existing laboratory processes play a central role.
Also at the 3rd Analytics Day, which took place after the networking meeting, the topics of automation, digitization, and data security were the focus of the event. In addition to expert presentations, renowned industrial companies presented current solutions for laboratory automation at the accompanying user exhibition.
The most impressive and illustrative presentation was titled "Live Hacking". The speaker Marco Di Filippo demonstrated, using the example of a well-known energy supplier, how difficult it is to protect against targeted attacks from the internet. With just a few clicks, he impressed the audience in his Live Hacking Show and raised awareness among all attendees. The conclusion of the presentation was to have passwords generated automatically, to avoid reusing them whenever possible, and to use a password safe to manage the amount of login data.
In conclusion, we would like to thank the host Institute for Energy and Environmental Technology e.V. and EurA AG for the planning and successful execution of the events.
